Hello and welcome to our family business!

Our dad, Mike, started this business in 1981 when the National Parks were still quiet, and tourism wasn’t really booming yet. He had 3 canoes to start out with, and would rent a few dozen canoes over the entire summer. Our mother, Denise, and Aunt Marlaine opened the charming & well known gift shop in 1986, and fast forward 35+ years, us 3 siblings have taken on the business with fresh outlooks on the business, and fresh shopping experience. As teenagers, we all worked on the dock or in the store at some point for our summer jobs, so landing here almost 4 decades later, running the family business has been a dream!

 Emerald Lake, BC

Emerald Lake is a stunning, glacial lake located in the heart of Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada. It is known for its vivid emerald-green color, surrounded by the towering Canadian Rockies and dense forests, making it a popular destination for nature lovers, photographers, and hikers.

The lake's distinctive color is caused by the sunlight reflecting off the glacial silt deposits, which have been deposited in the lake over thousands of years. The silt is finely ground rock, and the sunlight reflects off it, giving the water its remarkable hue.

Emerald Lake is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, 500 meters wide, and 40 meters deep, making it the largest lake in Yoho National Park. It is a popular spot for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The lake is also surrounded by several hiking trails that offer spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountain ranges.

One of the most popular hiking trails around Emerald Lake is the Emerald Basin Trail. The trail is approximately 9.6 kilometers long and takes hikers on a journey through the forest and up to the base of the surrounding mountains. The trail offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and the lake, making it a must-do hike for anyone visiting the area.

The lake is also home to rainbow & brook trout. Anglers from all over the world come to Emerald Lake to try their luck at catching these elusive fish. It is necessary that visitors wanting to fish, check the regulations and obtain a fishing license before fishing in the lake. Fishing season runs from July 1st to October 31st.

Visitors to Emerald Lake can also stay at rustic Emerald Lake Lodge, which is located on the edge of the lake. The lodge offers a range of accommodation options, including rooms and cabins, and features a restaurant, lounge, wedding and spa facilities.

Emerald Lake is a true gem of Yoho National Park, and its stunning emerald-green colour and picturesque surroundings make it a must-visit destination for anyone visiting the Canadian Rockies. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or an angler, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Emerald Lake.
